KIRSCHMAN REALTY, LLC is involved in markets throughout the Southeast. The major metropolitan markets continue to recover from the recent economic downturns with many junior boxes being absorbed.
There is, however, continued weakness with new retail space becoming available. Demand justifying new construction is minimal with retailers continuing to seek low-risk opportunities. Retailers are working to downsize their store footprints and rent negotiations are continuing- though at a lower level.
THE NEW ORLEANS METROPOLITAN AREA has been drawn into the slowdown—witnessing the cancellation or postponement of retail development projects and increased vacancy. Nevertheless, the New Orleans Downtown continues to show marked progress with an increasing residential population and a tourist industry that has fared better than national trends. Population continues to recover.
